HOLIDAY ISLE/CARIBEE DOLPHIN TOURNAMENT SET FOR JULY 11-13

 

ISLAMORADA, Florida Keys - Anglers are to fish for dolphin, blackfin tuna and wahoo to earn prizes at the 19th annual Holiday Isle/Caribee Boat Sales Dolphin Tournament, slated for Friday through Sunday, July 11- 13, in Islamorada.

The event kicks off Friday at 6:30 p.m. with a party and anglers meeting at Holiday Isle's Rumrunner Beach, mile marker 84 oceanside in Islamorada.

Lines in is at 8 a.m. and out at 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and the weigh-in station closes at 4:30 p.m. The heaviest dolphin weighed in wins big money, with only one entry per day per angler allowed. Each fish must be weighed by the tournament weighmaster at Holiday Isle's dock.

A beach bash and barbecue with live entertainment is slated for Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the Rumrunner Beach Tent.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for Sunday at 5 p.m. at Holiday Isle's Tiki Bar stage. First- through third-place winners receive a trophy and cash prizes of $7,000, $5,000 and $2,000, respectively. Anglers who catch the largest blackfin tuna and wahoo win trophies. Junior anglers under 16 are also to be awarded first- through third-place plaques. The entry fee is $125 per person with up to six anglers allowed per boat. Fees for junior anglers are $30, and a social entry is $15.
